Five practical ideas when it comes to selecting bathroom blinds

This month, we’ve come up with five practical ideas about selecting bathroom blinds. The blinds you have in your bathroom aren’t going to be the same as ones you have in any other room in your house. Although they’ll have something in common with kitchen blinds due to the moisture both are exposed to.

However, as you can imagine, bathroom blinds do collect a fair degree of moisture, and this is where we start our post today.

Moisture resistant blinds

Roller blinds are perfect choice. Moisture resistant blinds that are treated with a coating so water simply rolls off the blind. The danger here, over time, is that your blinds can become mouldy, if untreated. Moisture resistant blinds are perfect for bathrooms which fill up with condensation during a bath or shower.

Aluminium is an excellent material for bathrooms

Don’t use real wooden blinds in your bathroom because wood warps and cracks over time with moisture, so why not consider aluminium venetian blinds which are great for areas where there’s likely to be regular humidity and moisture.

Roller, uPVC for bathroom bliss

uPVC blinds provide excellent moisture resistance, roller blinds are ideal for this and offer great overall coverage, so you also have privacy, which is essential in a bathroom.

Is your bathroom cold - do you want the light blocking out completely?

If it is, you could have pleated honeycomb blinds which retain heat and keep it warm, or you could have blinds which are made from waterproof materials and come with a blackout coating so not only do you have privacy, you also have moisture retention.

Window shutters are another option for your bathroom windows

Finally, you could have uPVC shutters which close as two shutters (like double doors) or café style where one set opens at the top while the bottom remain closed or vice versa, and this gives you the option of allowing some light in but giving yourself some much needed privacy and protection from sunlight. If they’re made from uPVC or aluminium they will not warp or crack like wood, and you’ll have some really elegant window coverage for your bathroom.
